Juried Art Show

Each year, AFR’AM FEST attracts hundreds of thousands of participants during the three-day festival weekend. Participants travel all across the country to partake in the rich history and heritage of the festival. We are preparing our 2009 Juried Art Show and Fine Artist display and are inviting fine artists of all types of art to showcase their work at this year’s festival. Monetary awards will be given to winners of each category.

All artists must submit:

2009 Application Form –INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.

Support Material – Submit four (4) 35mm slides. Three (3) should represent the original work to be exhibited and one (1) should show your display. All slides must be 2” x 2” plastic or cardboard mounts. Your images must be similar to the kind of work you would like to exhibit at the show.

For 35mm slides – Label all slides with Artist’s name, title of work and medium. Also, use an arrow or identify “TOP” and “FRONT” to indicate the correct way to view slide.

For digital files on a CD – Artists are also allowed to submit images on a CD to be reviewed for selection. Images must be in JPG format at a maximum of 1024 x 768 pixels and 300 dpi. Please make sure the file is compressed to no larger than 2MB and do not use any special characters, symbols, periods or quotation marks (such as #/-“&) in the file name. If CD formatted correctly, the artist’s application will be denied entry. Place slides or CD in a protective sleeve and staple to application

Self-Addressed, Stamped Envelope - Slides will not be returned unless Artist encloses a self-addressed, stamped envelope with the application. Please ensure return postage is adequate. AFR’AM FEST will not return your slides if package has insufficient postage.

Artist statement or resume - It is highly recommended artists send resume, brochures, and black-and-white photographs prior to acceptance for possible inclusion in AFR’AM FEST publicity materials. If accepted, we will require these items. Please note: These materials cannot be returned.

Application Fee
Artists: $400 Student: $200 (must have valid ID to qualify)
All artists must have a 10x10 professionally organized booth space. AFR’AM FEST Fine Art Department reserves the right to accept or deny any applicant who doesn’t have a professionally organized booth space.  

Notification – Notice of acceptance will be mailed to applicants. Once an Artist has been accepted, the fee, in the form of certified check or money order, must be submitted and postmarked by the given deadline. Artists will also have the option of paying online. Additional fees apply. FAILURE TO PAY BY DEADLINE WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF SPACE. Please we ask that Artists do not call the office. Results will not be given out over the phone.

Cancellations – If you need to cancel your application, please notify the AFR’AM FEST Fine Art Department in writing.

When mailing back artist packet, please print “The Official AFR’AM FEST FINE ART DEPT” on the envelopes containing related materials.
